Climb Ben Nevis for Beatrix

Beatrix

Beatrix

My Story

Beatrix is 15 months old and is currently in the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle after suffering heart failure.

Her Dad Terry, Mam Cheryl and sister Eliza have gone through the worst time anyone could go through over the last few weeks.

Beatrix had surgery to attach her to a Berlin heart and suffered a cardiac arrest. The amazing team at the Freeman brought her back and she is now on the urgent list for a heart transplant.

For Terry and his family this means an agonising wait for a donor which could be days, weeks, or years away and Beatrix cannot leave the hospital. We can only imagine the strain this puts on Terry and his family. Beatrix has brought into focus the issue of child organ donation and Terry and his family are very keen to spread awareness around this difficult topic.

Terry and his family are receiving support at the hospital but one charity in particular contacted Terry offering help and support – RED SKY FOUNDATION. We are Terry’s team and wanted to do whatever we could do to help. We would like to raise as much money as we can for RED SKY FOUNDATION to support their vital work in assisting families like Terry’s.

As a family, they love the Highlands of Scotland, it is a truly special place to them. On Monday 20th June 2022 we are going to travel up to Scotland to spread Terry’s message from the highest point in the UK – the summit of Ben Nevis.
